K, I was just listening to Genesis, and qite diggin it. They were one of the earlier prog rocking groups. download "Firth of a Fifth," it has a melody during an instrumental part which gets me every time.
While on the subject of prog rock, i just got Dreamtheater live at the Budokan, and i must say: holy crap. I've never really heard them much before now. I'm impressed.
Any other proggish bands you like? put em here

I sort of prefer Liquid Tension Experiment 'cause I like instrumentals, but the lack of ole Mr. Myung is sad.
I don't know if they count...sort of older... but King Crimson is pretty awesome.

I absolutely LOVE the Mars Volta, they are releasing a new album in August, but I hear it's a lot more straight forward than their other two albums.... (ex. there won't be three minutes of birds chirping like on Frances the Mute, just song after song)

I don't know if they count...sort of older... but King Crimson is pretty awesome. Well Mr. Levin makes up for the lack of John with his trusty chapmanstick, and also, He's a King Crimson member, no?

Hasgoldenlocks, The Mars Volta collaborate with Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who plays trumpet on the record, and John Frusciante! Trumpet is actually Flea's first instrument.
