Well, my school is doing 'My Fair Lady' next year. I really love the musical, but I don't think it is right for highschool. There are not very many parts.

I really wish that we could do West Side Story. It is honestly one of my all-time favourites. Well, I would die if we did Les Mis, but you know, it would be SOOOOOO expensive to buy the rights plus, its not really school appropriate.

Yes, but it's Les Misérables! I'm a bit of an addict. West Side Story would be amazing....and I agree about My Fair Lady. Do you have enough guys?

Probably not. Our lead for Footloose last year couldn't sing, so that kinda shows you. Well, we had atleast 5 decent guys, but they have all graduates by now. And our teacher seems to think that the cast will have like 60 members...

Yah, that's exactly what I was thinking. I'm still going to try out though. Atleast I will get to be a maid!

Michelle: Seeing as you are a serious Musical Genius, I need some help. I was thinking about auditioning for the Stratford Community Players production of The Music Man, and for the audition, you are supposed to sing an 'upbeat broadway show tune'. Do you have any ideas of what I could sing? My voice range is kinda first alto to first soprano on a good day, if that is any help. I would really appreciate this. Thanks a bunch.
(Oh, I also need a monologue that is about one minute long. Does anyone know about any good books or websites with decent monologues? Thanks!)

First of all - huzzah! Break a leg at the audition. Now for suggestions:
"Many A New Day" from Oklahoma is nice if you're having a soprano day. Actually, a lot of Oklahoma is good for The Music Man.
As for monologues....are they looking for comedic or dramatic? There's tons of great audition monologue books....try your local library.
(This is tricky....I'll give more suggestions tomorrow....my mind isn't working tonight! Love ya, and sorry!)
